I’ll never forget the call I received one sultry evening on a remote island in the Philippines. One of the employees at the microfinance bank where I was working called me around 11pm, in tears and completely distraught. Her baby was running a high fever but the price to see a doctor was equivalent to one weeks wages and she didn't know what to do.
This is a problem faced by millions of families all over the world: every day thousands of children die unnecessarily because of lack of access to immediate medical advising and support. Inspired by the futuristic medical tricorder of Star Trek and the Qualcomm Tricorder X Prize we are building a hand-held device that diagnoses disease, independently of healthcare personnel or infrastructure. Such a device would revolutionize healthcare for billions of people, providing affordability, convenience, and access not only in developing countries but also in the US and other countries with established healthcare systems.
Senstore wants to use open innovation techniques and partnerships to develop such a device. Get in touch with us and find out how you can get involved.
